Elfin Cove is a mecca for sportfishing in Southeast Alaska. Founded by commercial troll fishermen in the 1930s, today this tiny harbor is host to half a dozen lodges for the serious saltwater angler chasing salmon, halibut, ling cod, and rockfish.

Elfin Cove is a quaint village with close to 30 full-time residents. Surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, the community is near the rich fishing grounds of Cross Sound. Cross Sound has a reputation for being a “Fisherman’s Paradise.” Fishing is always a popular activity with waters that provide an array of halibut, ling cod, rockfish, and salmon. During the warmer summer months, the local businesses serve fishing fleets that pass through and guests begin to fill the village lodges. These lodges, buildings, and homes are all connected by the village’s boardwalks.

The Fourth of July is a great time to visit Elfin Cove as the Independence Day Celebration is a community favorite. Activities in the celebration include a pancake breakfast, kid-led parade, chili cook-off, the tricky “grease pole” competition, and banana slug races.

Elfin Cove is full of attractions, from its unparalleled fishing to its breathtaking views, the community has much to offer. Often, guests spend their time at Elfin Cove hiking the trails, sightseeing, and enjoying wilderness adventures. Some great activities include bathing at White Sulfur Springs, zip lining through the treetops, hiking on an island, or kayaking along the beaches.
